2023-24 Preseason is over - Toronto Maple leaf Roster moves

Writer: samwelbsamwelb

Now that the preseason is over, all teams are making roster moves to get under the salary cap and solidify their regular season roster. This is true for the Toronto Maple Leafs as well. On Sunday Oct 8th the Maple Leafs announced a number of players being put on waivers.

The following players were put on waivers

- Maxime Lajoie

- William Lagesson

- Dylan Gambrell

- Kyle Clifford

- Simon Benoit

- Martin Jones

Martin Jones is an interesting situation. There are a number of teams looking for a goaltender. Most notabley, the Tampa Bay Lighting as their all-star tender Andrei Vasilevskiy is out for a couple of months undergoing back surgery. Will Jones end up being claimed by the lighting?

Toronto also made a trade with the Vancouver Canucks which seemed to surprise many. 28 year old Sam Lafferty was moved to the Canucks in exchange for a 5th round pick in 2024. Lafferty was having a great camp playing a lot with Matthew Knies. I as many was excited to see what Sam was going to do this season as he has speed, grit and good hands. Lafferty will be a good addition to a very fast Vancouver team and we wish him all the best.

The following players have been sent to the Marlies:

- Nick Abruzzese

- Max Ellis

- Dennis Hildeby

- Roni Hirvonen

- Pontus Holmberg

- Topi Niemelä

- Marshall Rifai

- Nicholas Robertson

- Logan Shaw

- Ryan Tverberg
